Chris Czajkowski's Guided tour of Nuk Tessli
Chirs Czjkowski has live all her life off the grid in the most remote and beautiful places.
For 23 years Chris has lived at Nuk Tessli while exploring the wild land around it.
On this tour, the famous Wilderness Dweller, will guide you through this amazing land and teach you everything she knows about wild flowers, local birds and so much more.
Day 1 | July 8, 2020 | Welcome to Nuk Tessli
After a quick tea and some cookies, we'll head out for our first hike, Lookout Point.
This easy hike, goes up through the forest along a small creek to a local high point with beautiful view of the land around.
On the way, we'll pass a few small meadows where we'll stop and look at the wild flowers.
Day 2 | July 9, 2020 | The Mammaries
Today we'll go on a full day hike up to the Mammaries.
After hiking for about an hour in the beautiful forest, the trees will start to get smaller and more sporadic. At this point, the trail will take us through big meadows full with wild flowers, small ponds and little streams.
We'll keep going up until we get to the top of the Mammaries. From up top, there's a 360 degree view of the Chilcotin.
This will be the most perfect place for lunch.
When we get back to Nuk Tessli, the famous outdoor hot tub will be waiting for us. Warm.
Day 3 | July 10, 2020 | Canoeing
Today, we'll take a break from hiking up the mountains and enjoy a day paddling a canoe in three lakes.
Whitton Lake, Cohen Lake and Boundary Lake are all connected with short portages between them. Nuk Tessli keeps several canoes at each lake, making the portages quite easy and fun.
On this day we'll canoe all the way to Boundary Lake and back while enjoying the tranquility of the lakes and the flowery meadows when portaging.
Day 4 | July 11, 2020 | Angelheart Lake loop
The Angelheart Lake loop is a beautiful hike that will take us up through the forest to North Pass Lake. Just before arriving at North Pass Lake, we'll get above the tree line and into an area full with small ponds, vast meadows and lots of wild flowers.
After a small snack at North Pass Lake, we'll continue up to North Pass Ridge where we'll get the best view if the day, the Monarch Massif to the West, Wilderness Mountain to the South and Bear Point to the East.
From there, the trail goes down a big meadow with a small creek. Red, white, yellow, purple, so many flowers all around at this part of the trail.
When we get back to the cabins, once again, the hot tube will be waiting for us.
Day 5 | July 12, 2020 | Back to Nimpo Lake
That's it. This short but amazing trip has come to it's end.
At about noon, a float plane will come and pick us up back to Nimpo Lake where we'll all go on our separated ways.
Instead of flying stright back to Nimpo Lake, the plane will take a detour and go on a scenic flight over the huge Monarch Ice Field and Hunlen Falls.
A perfect end for a perfect trip.
